November 3, 2010

We are having a fantastic time in Reception learning about ‘People Who Help Us’. We have tallked about people who help us in the community. We have enjoyed drawing pictures and writing about fire fighters, lollipop people, post people.doctors, nurses etc. Do you know someone who helps us? What do they do?

Similes

May 14, 2010

In Literacy, we have been looking at similies. A similie compares two nouns (people, places or things) that are often unlike, using ‘as’ or ‘like’.

The boy ran as fast as a frightened rabbit or the girl ran like the wind.

Can you think of any more?

A first post from Mr Sumner’s class.

January 13, 2010

Hi all, this is a first post to let you know (if yuou didn’t already know) that this term we will be studying the Tudors.

The Tudors were an important family in English history.  Why?  You’ll have to let me know as this topic progresses :)   Who were they?  What did they do?  All will be revealed…

On the same subject, we also will be having a visit from the Ordall Hall Experience (you could research Ordsall Hall in advance to find out who they are so that you’ll know what to expect) on Thursday 25th February (letters will go out in advance).

Also, our study will lead to an assembly to show the parents what we have learned about the Tudors.  This will be on Thursday 11th March.  Anyone who knows me or has been in my class before will also know that this means we will be studying playscripts in the first two weeks after the half term break, you didn’t think that I’d be writing the assembly for you did you?

More soon…
